Scanwel Ltd, a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality vacuum, surface and nanoscience equipment for academia, government laboratories and industry, is offering apprenticeships in several areas of the business including manufacturing, engineering, finance, marketing, office administration and sales.
David Freeman, Managing Director, Scanwel says, “Scanwel is in a period of considerable growth. We have recently hired several new professionals in engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and administration and are now in a strong position to offer several apprenticeship roles. We are on the lookout for talented young people from all different levels, from school leavers and university students, to people who want to further their careers or change career direction”.
Thomas Harrison has recently done an apprenticeship with Scanwel during the summer, in between leaving secondary school and embarking on a Business Course at Shrewsbury College, to gain some real-life work experience. Thomas, like most students of 2020/2021, was unable to go ahead with his school work experience due to COVID restrictions.
Thomas has been working in all sectors of the business including marketing, finance, administration, and import/export. He has gained first-hand experience of marketing channels/platforms including social media, Mailchimp, Canva and WordPress and during his time here he has created a company brochure, an internal newsletter, increased contacts on LinkedIn, helped our photographer, Ginger Pixie Photography, and supported the admin team.
Thomas says “This has been an amazing experience. I am going to college to study Business and this has given me the best knowledge before starting my course in September. I believe this puts me way ahead of other students who have not had this opportunity. The people at Scanwel have been very welcoming, I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help and guide me. Working as an apprentice for Scanwel will help you in your future career”.
